Alienware Tests Toggle for OLED Power Control

Alienware is testing a firmware toggle for its AW3926QW monitor to address vignetting caused by the Convex Power Control safety feature.

Alienware is currently testing a new firmware toggle for Convex Power Control on its AW3926QW 39-inch ultrawide OLED monitor. This feature is presently enabled by default without user control, causing a visible vignetting effect around the panel edges.

The Convex Power Control function is an OLED protection mechanism designed to mitigate image retention risks. According to TFTCentral, the feature results in a noticeable uniformity difference by lowering brightness levels specifically at the screen borders.

Alienware confirmed the testing to TFTCentral but has not committed to a public release. The company is evaluating how a toggle would impact burn-in behavior and warranty coverage, with no official date set for a firmware update including this specific option.
