AMD RDNA 5 May Feature Neural Lighting Technology

Leaked details suggest AMD's next-gen RDNA 5 architecture could use dedicated neural models to separate and optimize lighting and shading.

Leaker Kepler_L2 has revealed a potential new feature called Neural Lighting on the AnandTech forums. This technology is reportedly associated with AMD's next-generation Radeon graphics architecture, though the company has not yet confirmed RDNA 5 by name.

The proposed design involves separating lighting and shading into individual neural models. These models might receive direct access to raw game data, including geometry information and depth buffers, to improve performance beyond standard reconstruction.

Neural Lighting may be limited to RDNA 5 due to high computational demands, mirroring NVIDIA's expansion of DLSS capabilities. While AMD has not officially announced this technology, it represents a significant shift as RDNA 5 is not expected to launch soon.
