> Atari will close its VCS software store on February 1, 2027, while releasing a final update to ensure the hardware remains functional.

**Atari** has announced the upcoming end of support for its **VCS** console-PC, which launched in mid-2021 for $399. The hardware features an **AMD Ryzen** Embedded R1606G APU, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and 32GB of eMMC storage, alongside an **M.2 SATA SSD** slot for user expansion.

The official software store will close on February 1, 2027, though users can add titles until January 31. Atari plans a final OS update to migrate functionality to the local machine, removing dependencies on company infrastructure for authentication and apps.

Following the transition, Atari will release a Homebrew App to allow independent game development. This move ensures the **Debian**-based system remains functional for enthusiasts after official support ends, leveraging its upgradable RAM and USB 3.1 connectivity.
