# China Sets 3.2 Pbps Real-Time Data Transfer Record October 26, 2026 at 06:17 PM > Researchers achieve record-breaking 3.2 Petabits per second data speeds using 24-core optical fiber and multi-band transmission technology. A Chinese research team has set a new world record for real-time data transfer, achieving speeds of 3.2 Petabits per second over a 24-core optical fiber cable. This milestone was reached through a collaboration between the **National Key Laboratory of Optical Communication Technology and Network**, **Pengcheng Laboratory**, and **Fiberhome Fujikura**. The test utilized **spatial division multiplexing** and **S+C+L multi-band transmission** technologies. Researchers successfully addressed crosstalk interference and varying specification requirements across bands using commercially compliant hardware. This 3.2 Pbps rate is approximately 3.2 million times faster than a standard one-gigabit connection. This achievement marks a 30% improvement over the team's 2026 record of 2.5 Pbps. While academic lab milestones have reached 5.29 Pbps, this real-time result demonstrates massive capacity, equivalent to downloading 20,000 4K movies in a single second, signaling a significant leap forward for high-capacity optical networking infrastructure. #OpticalFiber #DataTransfer [#TechInnovation]() [#Networking]() #ChinaTech ## Related news ## [ASUS Launches ZenWiFi BN12 WiFi 8 Mesh Router]() October 22, 2026 at 05:10 PM ## [Langdao Silex Debuts 15W EUV Light Source]() October 16, 2026 at 03:44 PM ## [NVIDIA and Cisco Launch USFP Networking Module]() October 14, 2026 at 12:49 PM ## [Meta Unveils CRAM for Faster Memory Compression]() October 10, 2026 at 07:43 PM ## [Sonnet Launches Solo10G T5 Thunderbolt 5 Adapter]() October 2, 2026 at 07:51 PM
