# Dell CEO Warns of Intensifying Global Memory Shortage

**Dell** CEO **Michael Dell** warns that shortages of **DRAM** and high-bandwidth memory will likely intensify by 2027. According to **Hardwareluxx**, the massive scale of AI data-center construction is absorbing global supply, potentially creating a multi-year deficit.

**AI accelerators** require vast amounts of high-bandwidth memory, while AI servers rely on conventional DRAM. Because some new semiconductor factories won't reach full production until 2029 or 2030, a shortage in either component can delay entire systems.

Dell currently faces a $95 billion AI-server order backlog, which is limited by memory availability. As capacity shifts toward high-margin server memory, other markets may face restricted flexibility, directly impacting how quickly hardware can be delivered.
