> YouTuber ETA Prime demonstrates impressive gaming performance on Apple's M4 Max using a new ARM64 SteamOS virtual machine project.

YouTuber **ETA Prime** recently tested PC gaming performance on **Apple**'s **M4 Max** MacBook Pro using the **FX Steam Launcher**. This GitHub project runs an ARM64 build of **SteamOS** inside a macOS virtual machine, enabling Steam games to run directly on Apple silicon.

The testing revealed impressive results despite six layers between Steam and the hardware. The Witcher 3 hit 70 FPS at 1080p High, while Fallout 4 maintained a locked 60 FPS at 1080p Medium. Red Dead Redemption 1 and Left4Dead 2 also showed high frame rates.

While in active development, the project includes full controller support and a game stats page. Reports show Helldivers 2 has a 99.5% launch rate with a 55 FPS median on various M-series chips, though some titles still exhibit minor graphical rendering bugs.
