Meta Unveils Lightweight Micro-OLED VR Glasses

Meta debuts high-end VR glasses featuring a 120 Hz Micro-OLED display and a tethered design, set for a spring 2027 release at $1,300.

Meta unveiled new virtual reality glasses at Meta Connect, featuring Micro-OLED displays with 2412 x 2288 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The headset weighs just over 100 grams and utilizes pancake lenses, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 3 chip.

The device uses a 300-gram tethered puck containing 12 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and a three-hour battery. It offers a 70-degree field of view and 37 pixels per degree. While it supports Touch Plus controllers, none are included in the $1,300 retail box.

Launching in spring 2027, the glasses feature an AI assistant, hand tracking, and a projected keyboard. Titles like Beat Saber and Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities will support the hardware, which emphasizes a lightweight form factor for high-end VR experiences.
