# Micron Taiwan Faces Strike Over Bonus Dispute

September 14, 2026 at 11:38 AM

> Taiwanese employees reject a one-time bonus and demand permanent profit-sharing after Micron reports record Q3 2026 profits.

**Micron Technology** announced a one-time NT$1 million cash appreciation bonus for **Taiwan**-based employees following a record-breaking Q3 2026 profit of $28.24 billion. This payout ensures a minimum total compensation package of NT$1.7 million for local staff.

While 60,000 global workers will receive scaled rewards, Taiwan's unions rejected the offer, demanding a permanent 15% profit-sharing model and a one-off payment of 83 months' salary. Mediation failed on September 4, 2026, after threats of a labor strike.

With 80% of union members favoring a strike, the Taiwanese government has intervened to force further negotiations. A second round of mediation is set for September 21, 2026, as workers seek terms similar to the 10% profit-sharing deal at rival SK Hynix.
