Microsoft Expands ASD Support to NVIDIA and Intel

Microsoft's Advanced Shader Delivery technology arrives on NVIDIA and Intel hardware this October to reduce stuttering and loading times.

Microsoft has confirmed that its Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) technology will expand to NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards, the RTX Spark platform, and Intel Arc B-Series GPUs in October 2026. The update also targets Intel Core Ultra Series 2 and 3 processors.

ASD allows developers to ship pre-compiled shaders and download hardware-specific versions from the cloud. While currently supporting AMD RDNA 1 through 4 and Qualcomm Snapdragon X2, a Gears of War: E-Day demo showed a 95% reduction in compilation times.

The technology aims to eliminate shader-induced stuttering and speed up loading. Despite these goals, a TPU test of Gears of War: E-Day on AMD driver 26.9.2 still saw a 15-minute compilation, highlighting the importance of upcoming driver optimizations.
