> Microsoft releases the first firmware update for the Surface Laptop Ultra to fix screen flickering and improve system stability.

**Microsoft** has released the first firmware update for the **Surface Laptop Ultra**, which began shipping on October 16. Labeled as System Hardware Update 200.0.7.0 in **Windows Update**, the October 22 release targets the **RTX Spark**-powered flagship workstation.

The update addresses screen flickering on the **Mini-LED** panel, unexpected restarts, and extended reboot times that doubled installation durations. It also includes general performance improvements and bug fixes to stabilize the $2,599 high-end laptop.

This staged rollout is critical as firmware updates cannot be rolled back once installed. While the device is supported until 2032, users have reported ghosting and high temperatures under light workloads, making these early software refinements essential.
