The update also enables variable refresh rate support for docked play on compatible smart TVs, matching the 120 Hz handheld display's existing VRR functionality. Users can now access a Handheld Mode Boost via Quick Settings, allowing original Nintendo Switch titles to run at TV-mode performance levels while portable. This feature increases power consumption. Additionally, the system now saves unique audio profiles for different TVs and allows remote play via internet if a game card is stuck. The $499 console, which includes a Zelda Special Edition, gains significant utility through these software refinements. By bridging the performance gap between docked and handheld modes and improving display synchronization on external screens, Nintendo is optimizing the hardware's versatility for its growing user base. ## Related news #Nintendo #Macronix [#Switch2]() [#GamingNews]() #PhysicalMedia November 4, 2026 at 04:51 PM ## [Macronix Scales Back ROM Production for Nintendo]() > Macronix CEO Miin Wu confirms a reduction in ROM output, potentially shifting Nintendo's Switch 2 toward digital and Game-Key Card models. #Suneast #MicroSDExpress #GamingStorage [#Switch2]() [#TechNews]() October 5, 2026 at 07:25 PM ## [Suneast Markets New 2TB MicroSD Express Card]() > Suneast reveals a 2TB MicroSD Express card capable of holding 160 games, though a release date and pricing remain unconfirmed.
