> NVIDIA's updated DLSS 5 model doubles performance speeds and reduces VRAM usage by 20% for 4K gaming on RTX 40 series GPUs and beyond.

[NVIDIA](<https://hardwarebrief.com/entity/nvidia-q182477>) has announced significant updates for [DLSS 5](<https://hardwarebrief.com/entity/deep-learning-super-sampling-q76638952>), with a new model scheduled for release in October 2026. This iteration is twice as fast as the version unveiled at GTC 2026 in March, featuring a streamlined size of 118 million parameters after a 24% reduction.

The update delivers major efficiency gains, reducing VRAM usage by 20% at 4K resolution. **NBA 2K27**, the official launch title, sees performance jump from 65 FPS to 90 FPS, a 30% increase. [Hogwarts Legacy](<https://hardwarebrief.com/entity/hogwarts-legacy-q99397854>) and Where Winds Meet will add support later in November 2026.

NVIDIA plans to expand DLSS 5 availability to [RTX 40 series](<https://hardwarebrief.com/entity/geforce-rtx-40-series-q114058172>) GPUs and integrate the technology into the RTX Remix platform. These optimizations ensure that high-fidelity 4K gaming becomes more accessible across a wider range of hardware and legacy projects.
