# PCB Shortages to Persist Through 2030 Due to AI

**Printed circuit board** shortages are projected to persist until 2030 as demand for AI infrastructure strains global supply chains. An executive from an American PC maker reports that some PCB orders may not be fulfilled until late 2028 due to these delays.

Current lead times for specific PCB designs have reached 30 months. **AI servers** require multiple layers of PCB material, significant copper, and specialized **fiberglass**. Consequently, **copper-clad laminate** prices have increased 12 times since July 2026.

**NVIDIA** has initiated partnerships with major chip substrate makers to secure the small PCBs used for mounting silicon dies. These components are essential for connecting PC hardware, but the ongoing resource scarcity threatens long-term production goals.
