Perplexity has launched Portable Computer for Windows in partnership with Nvidia, expanding the local agent tool beyond its Linux origins. Now available via the existing Perplexity Windows app, the software was first introduced on the DGX Spark in August.
Users need a Pro or Max subscription and a GeForce RTX or RTX PRO GPU with at least 24GB of VRAM, such as the RTX 3090, 4090, or 5090. The app supports local models like Qwen 3.8 27B and includes MCP servers for apps like Slack, GitHub, and Microsoft Word.
This local version of Perplexity Computer allows for multistep tasks and scheduled recurring actions without consuming cloud credits. While it currently requires high-end hardware, dedicated RTX Spark PCs from Lenovo and Acer are expected this October.
