The RPCS3 team has announced a significant performance boost for the PlayStation 3 emulator on Nvidia GeForce GPUs. Developer Yahfz successfully resolved a specific Nvidia driver bug that previously acted as a bottleneck, limiting emulation speeds for users.
This performance-reducing issue exclusively affected Nvidia hardware, while AMD GPUs remained unaffected. Users can expect varying frame rate gains depending on the specific PS3 title and scene, as the fix addresses long-standing driver-level inefficiencies.
Despite the fix, the team noted difficulties reporting ISV bugs to Nvidia, citing past failures on developer forums. An Nvidia employee has since recommended using the official driver feedback forum to ensure technical issues reach the engineering teams.
