November 5, 2026 at 01:11 PM

> Sony debuts the MDR-3R wired headphones, a USB-C update of the 1979 classic featuring open-ear drivers and a Stranger Things edition.

**Sony Electronics Inc.** announced the **MDR-3R** **USB-C**-compatible wired headphones on November 5, 2026. Inspired by the 1979 MDR-3 model that debuted with the **Walkman TPS-L2**, these open-ear headphones feature 23 mm driver units and include blue and orange ear pads.

The MDR-3R includes a built-in microphone and in-line remote. A **Stranger Things** Edition is also launching, featuring an engraved logo and red and black earpads. Sony used recycled plastic in the product and utilized plastic-free materials for the packaging.

The standard MDR-3R retails for $59.99 USD, $99.99 CAD, €59, or £49. The Stranger Things Edition is priced at $79.99 USD, $129.99 CAD, €69, or £59. This release modernizes a classic audio design with USB-C connectivity for contemporary device compatibility.
