SpaceX Seeks $40B in Debt to Buy NVIDIA AI Chips

SpaceX is reportedly securing $40 billion in financing led by Apollo Global Management to purchase AI hardware from chipmaker NVIDIA.

SpaceX is reportedly seeking $40 billion in financing to purchase AI hardware from Santa Clara-based chipmaker NVIDIA. According to a Financial Times report from the week of October 7, 2026, Apollo Global Management is set to spearhead the proposed deal.

The capital structure includes $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in investment-grade debt, with Pimco participating as an investor. CEO Elon Musk confirmed SpaceX will build exclusively on NVIDIA architecture, which recognizes revenue upon shipment.

This massive debt deal allows SpaceX to finance compute scaling without diluting equity holders. The move addresses significant capital expenditure requirements for rocket and satellite operations while SpaceX takes on the full liability for the hardware.
