Cloud Imperium Games has officially launched the Steam page for Squadron 42, the single-player campaign for Star Citizen. Alongside a new trailer, creator Chris Roberts confirmed the title is now targeting a Q2 2027 release after a delay from its 2026 window.
The narrative-driven game follows a United Empire of Earth Navy officer and features a star-studded cast including Mark Hamill and Gary Oldman. Though declared feature complete three years ago, selected fans recently tested a five-hour demo in Manchester.
Powered by the proprietary StarEngine, the title utilizes Maelstrom technology for advanced ship destruction and hacking mechanics. As Star Citizen crowdfunding hits $1.05 billion, this release remains a critical milestone for the long-running project.
