> TP-Link opens preorders for its first Wi-Fi 8 router in select global markets while facing ongoing regulatory delays in the United States.

[TP-Link](<https://hardwarebrief.com/entity/tp-link-q1852050>) officially opened preorders for the **Archer 8 Ultra** router on September 30, 2026, marking the company's first Wi-Fi 8 hardware release. The initial rollout includes the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia, though the United States is excluded.

The Archer 8 Ultra features a [Broadcom](<https://hardwarebrief.com/entity/broadcom-q790060>) Wi-Fi 8 chipset, two auto-sensing 10 Gbps WAN/LAN ports, and four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports. According to TP-Link, the unit covers 3,600 square feet and supports 200 devices. A [Deco 8 Ultra](<https://hardwarebrief.com/entity/tp-link-deco-q140133704>) mesh system is expected in Q1 2027.

While Netgear, Asus, and Amazon have received Conditional Approvals from the [FCC](<https://hardwarebrief.com/entity/federal-communications-commission-q128831>), TP-Link has not yet been granted permission to sell new wireless hardware in the U.S. This regulatory delay persists despite TP-Link incorporating TP-Link Systems in California.
