recently re-launched the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the company's first processor featuring 3D V-Cache Technology. Originally introduced by CEO Dr. at CES 2022, the Zen 3 chip returned to market this June after AMD re-engineered the manufacturing process.
Travis Kirsch, AMD Senior Director of Client Product Management, noted the revival was planned before the DRAM shortage. The chip was re-engineered because the original production process was unavailable, ensuring the 10-year-old platform remains viable.
Kirsch stated that Dr. Lisa Su intended for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D to serve as a final gift for AM4 owners. This strategic move provides a high-performance upgrade path for long-term users of the socket, maintaining support for the aging hardware ecosystem.
