A Reddit user known as u/Huzz95 recently reported a significant warranty dispute involving a second-hand TUF graphics card. Purchased from for €1,340, the four-month-old unit developed a loud, persistent coil whine during use.
The firm ASUS rejected the owner's request for a warranty claim and a formal inspection. Amazon U.K. also declined to assist, citing that the user was not the original buyer. ASUS maintains that audible coil whine is not a covered hardware defect.
This case highlights the risks of buying used GPUs, as ASUS refused to offer a repair or replacement. The company also failed to clarify if warranties transfer to second owners, leaving the user with a noisy, high-end card and no official technical support.
