Gelsinger Backs Nagare Labs' Z2RAM Technology

Former Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger supports Nagare Labs, a startup developing high-density Z2RAM memory integrated directly onto logic chips.

Former Intel CEO is backing Nagare Labs, a startup developing Z2RAM technology. The firm, co-founded by professor , has secured investment from , where Gelsinger is associated.

Nagare Labs' Z2RAM utilizes a two-transistor design that stores charge in the gate capacitance of a second transistor. This vertically stacked architecture is integrated on the logic chip, contrasting with traditional 1T-1C DRAM or six-transistor SRAM cells.

Gelsinger compares Z2RAM to High Bandwidth Memory for its density, speed, and power efficiency. As NAND chips exceed 300 layers, this innovation offers a scalable alternative for high-performance computing by placing memory directly onto the logic silicon.
