Microsoft Details Windows 11 Performance Updates

Microsoft is optimizing Windows 11 to improve boot times, enhance RAM efficiency for 8GB devices, and add new remote power controls.

Corporate VP Mark Linton detailed upcoming enhancements at the IFA 2026 trade show. The company is currently focused on reducing system boot times and increasing Windows Hello responsiveness to streamline the user authentication process.

Engineers are optimizing Windows 11 for systems with 8GB of RAM, addressing high memory usage seen in devices like the Dell XPS 13. Additionally, users can now opt out of OneDrive reminders, and the Phone Link app adds remote PC power controls for Android.

While Microsoft has not shared specific performance metrics or a concrete release timeline, these updates aim to improve efficiency on entry-level hardware. The changes reflect a broader effort to refine the OS experience through better resource management.
