Piper Sandler reports that major tech leaders including Amazon, Apple, AMD, Google, Tesla, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Qualcomm are currently evaluating Intel's 14A node. This 1.4nm chip production technology is a key part of Intel's pivot to customer manufacturing.
Intel plans for early risk production of 14A chips to begin in 2028. While the Fab-62 shell is nearly finished, it still requires equipment. A 14A fab with a 20,000 wafer monthly capacity costs $10 billion, funded in part by a $20 billion share offering.
Securing these clients is critical, as CEO Lip Bu Tan suggested in 2025 that the 14A program could be paused without a major external customer. With TSMC capacity sold out through 2028, Intel's success in foundry services remains a vital industry shift.
