Arm has unveiled its Mali-G2-NX GPU generation as part of the new Arm CSS for Mobile 2, featuring dedicated neural accelerators for upscaling and frame generation. The lineup includes the Mali G2-Ultra NX, Mali G2-Premium NX, and the Mali G2-Pro NX models.
The 'NX' units handle Neural Super Sampling, Frame Rate Upscaling, and Denoising. Arm aims for only one-eighth of a scene to be natively rendered, using AI for the rest. The hardware supports INT8/INT16 operations and can reach clock speeds up to 2.33 GHz.
This technology integrates into Unreal Engine via plug-in, with implementation taking up to 18 months for new games. Featuring third-generation Ray Tracing Units with Opacity Micromaps, the architecture significantly shifts mobile rendering toward AI-driven tasks.
