Arm Unveils Neoverse CSS N4 Server Subsystem

Arm's new Neoverse CSS N4 features up to 128 cores and PCIe 7.0 support, delivering significant performance and efficiency gains.

Arm has officially announced the Neoverse CSS N4, a modular compute subsystem for server processors formerly codenamed CSS Ranger. Utilizing Dionysus cores, these CPUs scale from 8 to 128 cores and reach clock speeds of 3.8 GHz on the advanced TSMC N3P process.

The architecture features 64 KB L1 caches, up to 2 MB L2 cache, and a 256 MB System Level Cache per die. It supports DDR5, LPDDR6, and up to 128 lanes of PCIe 6.0 or 7.0. Additionally, CXL 4.0 is supported, with UCIe enabling the interconnection of multiple dies.

This release follows the N3 and V3 series from two years ago, with Arm claiming a 2x speed boost and 1.25x better performance per watt. While the N4 leads this new generation, Arm plans to expand the lineup with Neoverse V4 and E4 variants at a later date.
