MediaTek has unveiled the Dimensity 9600 Pro, the successor to the Dimensity 9500 and the first chip to utilize Arm CSS for Mobile 2. Built on TSMC's 2-nm N2 process, it features an eight-core All-Big-Core CPU design with two C2-Ultra cores hitting 4.55 GHz.
The processor includes a Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU with 14 cores and 14 Ray Tracing Units, alongside the NPU 1090. It supports LPDDR6-12800 memory, UFS 5.0 storage, and H.266/VVC. The Imagiq 1290 ISP enables 4K240 video, while the 5G modem reaches 7.4 Gbit/s speeds.
This 2-nm chip competes with Apple's M6 and A20 Pro, offering a 17 percent single-core CPU boost and 27 percent higher GPU peak performance. While the Xiaomi 18 Fold uses the new Arm GPU, only the Dimensity 9600 Pro adopts the full Arm CSS implementation.
