Huawei Ascend AI Chips Outsell Nvidia in China

Huawei unveils the Atlas 950 SuperPoD and Peerium architecture as Ascend AI chips surpass Nvidia sales in the Chinese market.

Huawei rotating chairman Eric Xu announced that Ascend AI chips are now outselling Nvidia's offerings in China. During the Huawei Connect conference, the company unveiled the Atlas 950 SuperPoD, a system utilizing the innovative Peerium architecture.

The Peerium architecture treats CPUs, NPUs, memory, and network components as equals. While demand currently exceeds supply, Huawei is using LogicFolding and the Tau law approach to reach 1.4nm transistor density by 2031 despite relying on DUV machines.

Huawei is expanding its ecosystem, with HarmonyOS now powering 90 million devices across phones, cars, and PCs. Richard Yu confirmed plans for a gradual global rollout of the OS, which currently supports 450,000 apps and 11 million registered developers.
