iFixit Tears Down Valve's New Steam Frame

A detailed teardown by iFixit reveals the Steam Frame's internal design, featuring TMR joysticks and official repair support.

Lead teardown technician Shahram Mokhtari at iFixit has released a detailed analysis of the Valve Steam Frame. The device is assembled using a combination of screws and snaps, featuring IPS displays and magnetically attached lens assemblies for users.

Internal components include a battery glued to the housing and a motherboard with cables running over it. While the fan and heatsink are not individually serviceable, CT scans from Lumafield show the controllers utilize soldered, full-size TMR joysticks.

iFixit will support the hardware by selling official spare parts and publishing repair guides. This follows their previous support for the Steam Deck and Steam Machine, ensuring that owners have the resources needed to maintain Valve's latest hardware.
