Intel is reportedly planning to replace the Core i5-14600K with a new 16-core Core 5 processor as part of the Raptor Lake Next family. This rumored chip, appearing in a desktop roadmap as the Core 200 series, will maintain a 125W power rating on the LGA1700 platform.
The proposed Core 5 processor features an 8P+8E configuration, totaling 16 cores and 24 threads. This is an upgrade over the current Core i5-14600K, which utilizes 14 cores and 20 threads. The new series will not include the Ultra branding in its official name.
Expected in early 2027, these chips will coexist with 14th Gen processors using existing Raptor Lake silicon. This move brings eight Performance cores to the mid-range tier, a spec previously reserved for higher-end parts like the Core i7-14700K lineup.
