Executive Vice President Pavan Davuluri announced a significant update, version 26H2, build 26300.9818. The company claims the OS is now 20 percent more responsive and up to 40 percent faster during intensive multitasking scenarios.
The update optimizes memory usage by reducing the commitment by 900MB. Widgets now load only upon user request, saving 200MB of RAM. Additionally, inactive tabs now sleep after 15 minutes, down from the previous 120 minutes.
These performance gains were verified across 20,000 lab PCs, including 8GB RAM configurations. By reducing program RAM intensity and memory commitment, Microsoft aims to provide a smoother experience for users running modern productivity suites and apps.
