NTDEV, the developer of the Tiny11 project, recently demonstrated 26H2 booting on a system with just 128MB of RAM. A YouTube video shows the OS loading the Desktop, File Explorer, and Start menu, while successfully running the Notepad application.
This experiment utilizes only 3.125% of 's official 4GB minimum RAM requirement. It follows a 2023 test where NTDEV ran the OS on 176MB using an IDE interface. Additionally, a new 699MB Pico11 ISO was created to run apps like Paint and Calculator.
The project highlights extreme OS optimization by bypassing standard hardware limitations. While the Pico11 build used 883MB of RAM during virtual machine testing, these experiments prove Windows 11 can function far below its recommended technical specifications.
