Nv-UEFI-Unlocker Boosts Nvidia GPU AI Performance

A new open-source tool unlocks significant AI computing gains for Nvidia RTX 20, 30, and 40 series GPUs by modifying system registers.

Modder physicsdolphin has released Nv-UEFI-Unlocker on , an open-source tool designed to boost AI computing performance on 20, 30, and 40 series GPUs. The UEFI-based utility modifies GPU registers before the official driver loads.

Users must deactivate Secure Boot and run the tool via a prepared USB stick. While it requires a re-run after every shutdown, it does not permanently alter firmware. RTX 20 series cards need extra GSP firmware configuration, and RTX 50 GPUs are unsupported.

Tests show significant AI gains, with an RTX 2070 jumping from 36 to 63 TFLOPS in matrix tasks and an RTX 3080 LHR improving performance by 28.8 percent. However, these optimizations target AI workloads and provide no performance benefit for gaming.
