PS6 Component Costs Reportedly Surge to $960

Rising RAM and NAND prices driven by AI data center demand are pushing the estimated bill of materials for Sony's PlayStation 6 higher.

Hardware leaker KeplerL2 has shared new details regarding the PlayStation 6 on the forum. Recent estimates suggest the console's bill of materials has surged to roughly $960 as of July, a significant increase from the $760 estimate reported in March.

The rising costs are driven by RAM and NAND flash storage, which alone may exceed $680. Leaks indicate the PS6 could feature memory and a 160-bit bus, supporting up to 40 GB of total memory, though a 30 GB configuration is currently considered likely.

This price hike stems from AI data centers consuming global DRAM and NAND supplies. While has not released official pricing, these high component costs suggest a premium retail price for the next-generation console compared to previous iterations.
