Radeon RX 9070 GRE Hits Record 3.9 GHz Overclock

An XFX Radeon RX 9070 GRE Swift reached a record 3.9 GHz frequency using custom software tools to showcase RDNA 4 silicon performance.

A stock XFX Radeon RX 9070 GRE Swift graphics card reached a record 3.9 GHz frequency using custom software tools. TechPowerUp Forum user ShrimpBrime achieved the feat on the RDNA 4-based GPU, which was originally designed for the Chinese consumer market.

The overclock utilized R-Team OC and GPU Frequency Generator tools without VBIOS mods or specialized cooling. Testing involved rendering 4,194,304 triangles in . While the driver crashed at 3.9 GHz, a 3.85 GHz clock was repeatedly reproduced.

To verify the results, ShrimpBrime compared GPU-Z and HWiNFO64 data with AMD ADL and ADLX telemetry. The RTOC tool polled monitoring data every 2 ms, confirming the high GFXCLK values. This demonstrates the significant clock speed headroom of RDNA 4 silicon.
