New testing by QuasarZone reveals the NVIDIA RTX 5090 12V-2×6 connector reached 91.7°C with DLSS 5 enabled in Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K. The RTX 5090 16-pin input peaked at 646.7W, while the RTX 5080 connector remained significantly cooler, staying below 53°C.
Tests conducted at a room temperature of 27.5°C show the RTX 5090 average power rose from 509.2W to 575.1W with DLSS 5. Current through the ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 power pins ranged from 7.83A to 8.51A, remaining just under the 9.2A specification limit.
The 91.7°C connector temperature was the hottest part of the RTX 5090 measured during the 20-minute session. While the GPU core peaked at 86.3°C, the high power draw highlights the thermal load placed on the 12V-2×6 interface under heavy DLSS 5 workloads.
