Sony is developing a new handheld console codenamed Project Canis, also known as the PSP 3. The device features a custom 3-nanometer AMD Canis processor with six Zen 6 cores and 24 GB of shared LPDDR5X memory. Sony is targeting a late 2027 launch window.
The handheld utilizes 16 RDNA 5 Compute Units with Dual-Issue FP32 support. It operates between 15 W and 25 W, delivering 4.91 TFLOPS at 1.2 GHz in portable mode. When docked, the clock speed hits 1.65 GHz to reach a peak performance of 6.75 TFLOPS.
PSSR 3.0 will provide Frame Generation, boosting effective performance to 14 TFLOPS when docked. While the native display is 1080p, internal rendering sits at 540p in mobile mode. This output rivals the Xbox Series S and nears the PS5 Pro's 16.7 TFLOPS.
