Sony Sets Playtime Rule for PS5 Pro Sales in Japan

Sony Store Japan introduces a 60-hour playtime requirement for PlayStation 5 Pro lottery applications to prioritize active community members.

Sony is implementing a lottery system for PlayStation 5 Pro purchases in Japan via the Sony Store. To qualify, applicants must hold a Japanese PSN account and have logged at least 60 hours of playtime on a PS4 or PS5 between September 2024 and September 2026.

Applications for the purchase lottery open on October 7, with sales for ticket holders starting October 26, 2026. Successful applicants will have until November 2 to finalize their PS5 Pro purchase at MSRP, ensuring a fair distribution for active players.

The PS5 Pro has been available for nearly two years since its November 2024 launch. This strict verification process aims to prioritize long-term users and active community members as the console enters its second year on the market following its release.
