AMD officially unveiled its EPYC 9006 series server processors, codenamed Venice, featuring the new Zen 6 architecture. The lineup spans from 8-core models to a massive 256-core flagship, with prices ranging from $700 for the EPYC 9106 to $14,904 for the 9996.
The series utilizes two platforms: SP7, launching in Q4 2026 with 16 memory channels and 96 PCIe 6.0 lanes, and SP8, arriving in H1 2027 with 128 PCIe 6.0 lanes. High-end SP7 chips reach 600W TDPs, while Venice-X models with 3D V-Cache are planned for 2027.
This release pushes density to 512 cores in 2P systems. While the 256-core EPYC 9996 costs $58.21 per core, the 64-core 9556 sits at $125.12 per core. Single-socket 'P' models offer savings, such as the 32-core 9356P, which is 26% cheaper than its standard peer.
