Jury Finds Arm Breached Qualcomm License Deal

A Delaware jury ruled Arm breached its licensing agreement with Qualcomm and interfered with its Meta Platforms business relationship.

A Delaware federal jury has concluded a five-day trial by finding that Arm breached its licensing agreement with Qualcomm. The jury also determined that Arm intentionally interfered with Qualcomm's business relationship with Meta Platforms during the dispute.

The jury ruled in favor of Arm on four other claims, ultimately awarding Qualcomm just $2 in nominal damages—$1 for each of the two successful claims. Following the decision, shares of Arm, which is controlled by SoftBank, fell by approximately 1 percent.

Qualcomm stated the verdict confirms the breach of its Architectural License Agreement. The company is now pursuing a contractual provision that could allow it to stop paying royalties for five years, despite its current license running through 2033.
