Micro Center Requires GPU Export Declarations

Micro Center now requires customers to sign declarations stating they will not export high-end graphics cards like the RTX 5090 to China.

Micro Center is reportedly requiring customers to sign a declaration stating they will not export high-end graphics cards to China. A Reddit user, Krothic, was asked to sign this form at a Tustin, California location while buying a Powerspec Ai90 prebuilt PC.

The customer had to provide a driver's license for identity verification during the transaction. The signed document confirms the RTX 5090-equipped PC is for legitimate U.S. use. A store manager noted this anti-export policy was implemented just days ago.

This move aligns with U.S. bans on exporting high-end GPUs to China. By linking hardware serial numbers to buyers, Micro Center can track end users. The declaration ensures compliance with federal trade regulations for powerful computing hardware in the U.S.
