AMD Hits Historic $1 Trillion Market Cap Milestone

AMD shares surged past $615 following a 2025 OpenAI deal and the success of its 2 nm Venice EPYC CPUs and Instinct MI accelerators.

AMD reached a historic one trillion dollar market capitalization on September 21, 2026, as shares hit a session high of $615.98. This milestone represents a nearly 10% increase from the $559.91 closing price recorded on Friday, September 18, 2026.

The surge follows a 2025 deal with OpenAI, which recently released GPT-6 Astra. The agreement allows OpenAI to purchase 160 million shares at $0.01 each, provided AMD stock hits $600 and OpenAI deploys 6 gigawatts of AMD compute across its infrastructure.

Now the 16th most valuable global company, AMD's growth is driven by its 2 nm Venice EPYC CPUs, Instinct MI accelerators, and Helios rack-scale solutions. OpenAI may soon secure a 10% equity stake for $1.6 million as these vesting conditions are met.
