ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) is reportedly planning to establish a 3D NAND R&D production line at its second manufacturing facility near Beijing. While the company has not formally confirmed these initiatives, it has already set up a research institute.
The second Beijing facility has not yet broken ground, but CXMT has discussed NAND ambitions with a new company focused on AI and supercomputing storage. This shift comes as domestic rival YMTC is reportedly exploring its own move into the DRAM market space.
Backed by China's Big Fund and the Hefei government, CXMT is a financial powerhouse, posting $22.41 billion in revenue and $11.57 billion in net profit for the first half of the year. Expanding into 3D NAND would significantly diversify its memory portfolio.
