Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT announced on September 20 that its fifth-generation DRAM platform has entered mass production. The company also unveiled two 24-gigabit LPDDR5X products, which utilize quadruple patterning to achieve high-density performance.
The new platform reduces key memory-cell feature spacing to 11.95 nanometres. CXMT claims these 24-gigabit LPDDR5X chips offer 50% more capacity than previous equivalents. They are available in two package formats specifically designed for portable devices.
This advancement allows for at least 50% more gross dies per wafer compared to the fourth-generation 8-gigabit baseline. CXMT states the process is engineered to manufacture chips at a lower cost while significantly reducing overall power consumption levels.
