has spent over a year developing two iPhone gaming controllers, codenamed T6502 and T1057, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Beats executives are reportedly leading the engineering for these devices, which may launch under the Beats brand name.
Evidence of the hardware appeared in the macOS 26 release candidate within GameController framework profiles. The T6502 is a USB model with four haptic channels, while the T1057 supports Bluetooth and USB with an integrated accelerometer and gyroscope.
The move signals Apple's intent to compete directly with Backbone and SteelSeries in the mobile gaming market. While iOS already supports Xbox and PlayStation gamepads, these first-party controllers would represent a major expansion of the Beats ecosystem.
