Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 2GB Model Prices Increase

Raspberry Pi raises prices for 2GB models of the Pi 4 and Pi 5 by $12.50 due to a significant surge in global LPDDR4 DRAM memory costs.

Raspberry Pi has announced a $12.50 price increase for the 2GB models of the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5. The Raspberry Pi 4 2GB is now priced at $67.50, while the Raspberry Pi 5 2GB has risen to $77.50, following similar hikes for higher-RAM versions.

The company attributed the change to soaring memory costs, noting LPDDR4 DRAM prices rose sevenfold in the year leading to April. While 1GB models and 2GB Compute Modules remain at current prices, Raspberry Pi plans to reverse these hikes when costs stabilize.

Hardware limitations prevent manual RAM upgrades, as engineer PhilE confirmed devices can be locked to their original capacity. This was evidenced by a failed attempt to upgrade a 2GB Compute Module 5, highlighting the impact of these fixed hardware specs.
