XPSemu Alpha 1 Brings Xbox Emulation to PS5

Developer ZiZc3 releases a native xemu port for jailbroken PS5 consoles, enabling original Xbox titles like Halo 2 to run on Sony hardware.

Developer ZiZc3 has released XPSemu Alpha 1, a native PlayStation 5 port of the open-source xemu emulator. Published on GitHub, this initial build allows jailbroken PS5 consoles to boot original Xbox titles like Halo 2, Forza Motorsport, and Fable directly.

The emulator utilizes QEMU's TCG compiler and xemu's Vulkan renderer via the RADV driver. Performance varies, with Halo 2 reaching 30 fps natively and up to 50 fps with patches, while Forza Motorsport and Fable currently run at lower, variable frame rates.

XPSemu requires a helper daemon, specific Xbox BIOS files, and XISO images stored on internal storage. This milestone brings Xbox emulation to Sony's hardware, with future plans including FSR 3 frame generation to improve the Zen 2-powered performance.
