The upcoming Rubin gaming GPUs may utilize a custom TSMC 3NP node, with the flagship model rumored to feature an unusual physical design. While the project was greenlit months before September 2026, Nvidia is currently managing RTX 50 series connector issues.
This timeline aligns with AMD's RDNA 5 architecture, which is expected in 2027 or 2028. As RDNA 5 targets a major performance uplift and LPDDR memory for lower-end SKUs, Nvidia's shift ensures its next-gen hardware remains competitive in a shifting market.
